Our second annual Rising Suns issue
Action Heroes of Marin

Compared to most of sedentary America, Marin is hyperactive. Fitness is important to us and we’re out there running, biking and swimming every minute we can. But some people take it even further. Armed with natural talent and drive, they become champions in their field. They’re not just good, they’re among the best—and they’ve got plenty of medals to prove it.

In the following pages, we profile 10 of your neighbors who we think qualify as Action Heroes. Some pursue unusual sports; some tackle a common activity with unusual verve. But all are acknowledged by their peers as topnotch athletes.

Most of our heroes cannot be termed “up-and-comers”—only a few are just beginning their sports careers. Instead of Rising Suns, think of them as basking in the warmth of high noon. But all are still joyously competing and still winning the laurels.
