101 Paving Project Gets Underway Monday
Life in Marin, posted by Caltrans, a resident of another community, on Sep 18, 2009 at 5:02 pm

Starting Monday night, September 21, 2009, Caltrans will start repaving a section of U.S. Route 101 in Marin County, between Central San Rafael and North San Pedro.

This segment was recently widened from three to four lanes in each direction, with the new lanes designated as HOV lanes. The new lanes helped to relieve the chronic congestion that had plagued this section of 101 for years. However, the existing pavement is showing signs of wear and tear. The new open-graded asphalt pavement will provide a smooth and quiet riding surface for commuters.

All paving work will be done at night, and is expected to last for about three weeks.

CalTrans, I was wondering the scope of the work on hwy 1 between Chamberlan Ct. and West California. It looks like major rebuilding going on. I have not seen any description of the project yet in the local media, but forgive me if I somehow missed it. Thanks.
