Green-conscious drivers in Marin have a place to fill their tanks, with the opening of a new biodiesel station in San Anselmo.

The station, the only one of its kind in the county, comes courtesy of LC Biofuels, LLC, a Richmond-based operation with a stated goal of "providing cleaner air, fuel independence, and improving the health of the global environment." The station will be located off the Miracle Mile at Green Fusion Design Center. Those wishing to pump the canola- or soybean oil-based fuel must apply for an access card (an online form is available at www.lcbiofuels.com).

Co-owner Lance McCardle says he's looking forward to serving the needs of Marin biodiesel users, who have previously had to drive out of the county, make it themselves or have large quantities delivered to their homes.
