When the blues come to town...

by Samantha Campos
Five-time Grammy Award-winning blues guitarist and singer BUDDY GUY and local blues legend ELVIN BISHOP are coming to the Marin Center. Guy, who's listed in Rolling Stone's "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time," is also known as an inspiration to Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan and countless others--not bad for a kid from Louisiana who learned guitar on a two-string diddley bow, eh? Bishop, a product of the '60s blues-rock explosion--and responsible for the impossibly dreamy 1976 hit "Fooled Around and Fell in Love," which we can never get out of our head, dammit--received a Grammy nomination for his 2008 release, The Blues Rolls On.
8pm Nov. 13 at Marin Veterans' Memorial Auditorium, 10 Avenue of the Flags, San Rafael. Info and tickets: Call 415/499-6800 or online at www.marincenter.org.Are you receiving Express, our free daily e-mail edition? See a sample and sign-up for Express.
